What is the weather like in Marrakech in April?
April is the middle of spring in Marrakech. Afternoons average 25.7 °C, which feels warm in full sun and pleasant in the shade. Nights drop to an average of 12.4 °C, so there are more than 13 degrees between the warmest and the coolest hours of the day: a morning that starts cool turns into a warm afternoon, and the evening cools again quickly once the sun is down.
Rain is lighter than in March. The month averages 26.3 mm over 2.9 days with at least 1 mm, which usually means a few short spells rather than several grey days in a row. Sunshine adds up to about 270 hours, around nine hours a day on average.
Humidity averages 60 %, close to the March figure. The air stays dry enough for the afternoon warmth to feel moderate, and for the evenings to feel cooler than the thermometer suggests.

The Agafay desert in April
The Agafay desert, 45 minutes from the city, has the same climate as Marrakech. What changes is the exposure: the plateau is open stony ground with little shade, so the afternoon sun feels stronger than in town, and once the sun has set it gets cold quickly.
In April, with afternoons around 26 °C, the whole day works in the desert. The middle of the day is warm in the open, but without the heat of May and June. Late afternoon is the most comfortable window, and the evening falls towards 12 °C, so anyone staying after dark needs a warm layer.
The 2-hour quad ride in Agafay suits any time of day in April, and the camel ride and dinner in Agafay runs into the evening, when that warm layer comes out of the bag.
What to wear in Marrakech in April
- Light clothes for the day: 25.7 °C in the afternoon feels warm in full sun.
- A sweater or a light jacket for the morning and the evening, when the temperature falls towards 12 °C.
- Sunglasses, a hat and sun cream: with about nine hours of sunshine a day, the sun is already strong.
- A light waterproof layer, if you like: rain falls on about three days in the month.
- For the desert after dark, one layer warmer than you would wear in town.
For a ride on the plateau, What to wear quad biking in Agafay goes through the kit piece by piece.
Is April a good time to visit Marrakech?
Yes, for most travellers. April combines warm afternoons, cool nights, little rain and long days. Marrakech weather month by month names it, with October, as the most comfortable month for spending a whole day outdoors.
The limits are the evenings, which need a layer, and a few days of rain that can shorten an outing. If you would rather have more warmth and less rain, May is hotter and drier; if cooler afternoons and more showers do not bother you, March comes just before. Either way, check the forecast a few days before you go: the figures on this page are averages over thirty years, not a promise for a given week.
