In October, Marrakech is warm and mostly dry: the average high is 28.5 °C, the average low 15.7 °C, and about 19 mm of rain falls over two or three days. It is the month when the summer heat eases, the evenings turn cool and sunset moves back to around 6 pm.
What is the weather like in Marrakech in October?
October afternoons are warm rather than hot. The average high of 28.5 °C is four degrees below September’s, and nights fall to 15.7 °C, cool enough to notice after dark but not cold. The gap between afternoon and night is close to 13 degrees, so a day that starts in a T-shirt can end in a jumper.
Rain stays light. The station records about 19 mm for the month, on 2.4 days with at least 1 mm on average — more than in September, far less than in November. When it comes, it is usually a short shower rather than a grey day.
The sun is still generous: about 252 hours over the month, a little over eight hours a day. Humidity averages 59 %, up from 52 % in September but still moderate. Out in the open, the sun feels stronger than the thermometer suggests, and the evening cool arrives quickly once it has set.
October compared with September and November
| Month | High | Low | Rain | Rainy days | Sunshine | Sunset (15th) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| September | 32.5 °C | 18.6 °C | 15.2 mm | 1.3 | 267 h | 18:37 |
| October | 28.5 °C | 15.7 °C | 19.1 mm | 2.4 | 252 h | 17:59 |
| November | 23.1 °C | 10.7 °C | 29.8 mm | 3.8 | 229 h | 17:32 |
October sits in the middle of the autumn slide. From September to November, the average high drops by almost ten degrees and the night low by eight, while the rain doubles. October takes the mildest part of that change: the summer heat has gone, and the winter cold has not yet arrived.
Sunrise and sunset in October
On 15 October, the sun rises at 6:35 am and sets at 5:59 pm, at GMT (UTC+0), the time in Morocco since 20 September 2026: about 11 hours 24 minutes of daylight. Sunset moves fast in autumn — almost 40 minutes earlier than in mid-September, and nearly half an hour earlier again by mid-November — so a date at the start of October and one at the end are well apart.
Morocco’s time changes neither in summer nor during Ramadan.
In October, the afternoon departure in Agafay is at 4:00 pm, and the meeting point at the base is at the start time. Sunset in mid-October is at about 5:59 pm. Agafay at sunset gives the sunset time for every month and the fixed afternoon departures.
The Agafay desert in October
The Agafay desert, 45 minutes from the city, has the same climate as Marrakech, but it is an open plateau of stone with very little shade. By day the October sun is still strong out there; once it goes down, the ground loses its heat quickly and the evening turns cool.
That makes October an easy month for the desert. Mornings and late afternoons are both comfortable, and the middle of the day, at around 28 °C, is warm without the summer’s weight. The 2-hour quad ride fits a morning or an afternoon. The quad, camel and sunset dinner leaves at 4:00 pm and ends with dinner under the tents: that is the outing where you will want a warm layer.
What to wear in Marrakech in October
- By day: light, breathable clothes; at around 28 °C, the sun is still strong.
- In the evening: a light jumper or jacket for when it drops towards 16 °C.
- In the desert: closed shoes and sunglasses — the tracks are dusty — plus a layer for after sunset.
- For the rain: with two or three rainy days in the month, a light waterproof is enough.
What to wear quad biking in Agafay covers the kit for an outing on the plateau, piece by piece.
Is October a good time to visit Marrakech?
Yes: on the numbers, October is one of the most comfortable months of the year. With April, it is the most balanced month in Marrakech weather month by month: warm afternoons, cool nights, little rain and more than eight hours of sun a day. The trade-offs are shorter days than in spring, with sunset around 6 pm, and a start of the month that sits closer to September’s heat than the end does.
