Quad and camel in one outing in Agafay
Yes, quad and camel fit in one afternoon in Agafay: three outings compared by duration, 4 pm departure, ages, meal and what to wear.

An Agafay desert quad and camel outing puts both rides into the same half-day, followed by a Moroccan meal on the same site, and we run three of them. They differ mainly in how long you ride and in what happens at the table, so the choice comes down to your evening and to how much of it you want to spend riding.
Most visitors choose between two outings with the same departure: the 2-hour quad, camel and sunset dinner and the 1-hour quad, camel and Moroccan meal. Both leave at 4 pm (5 pm from 1 April to 20 September), with about an hour on camelback and dinner under the tents; the first has two hours of quad and lasts five hours, the second one hour of quad and lasts four. Agafay is a stony desert, not a desert of sand dunes, 45 minutes by road from central Marrakech. To book, open the page of the outing, where the dates and the price are shown; you can book without paying anything online, or pay a 30% deposit or the full amount with PayPal, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start. If you would rather talk it through, write to us on WhatsApp.
A quad and camel ride from Marrakech is the natural pairing: the same stony ground, first at speed, then at walking pace. This guide compares the combined outings side by side — what each includes, how long it lasts, when it leaves and what you eat — then says who each one suits, what to wear and how to reach the base. For everything else we run on the plateau, see the Agafay desert page.
Which Agafay desert quad and camel outings can you choose from?
Three outings combine both, and two more keep one of the two with a dinner. All five start from our base on the plateau, with one quad per rider, a helmet, a briefing and a guide with the group.
| Outing | Quad | Camel | Duration | Departure | Meal |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-hour quad, camel and Moroccan meal | 1 h | About 1 h | 4 h | 4 pm (5 pm in summer) | Dinner |
| 2-hour quad, camel and sunset dinner | 2 h | About 1 h, at the end of the day | 5 h | 4 pm (5 pm in summer) | Dinner after dark |
| VIP pack | 1 h on a 350 cc quad | 45 to 60 min | 4 h 15 | 4 pm (5 pm in summer) at the base | Private table, music and a fire show |
| Quad biking and dinner | 2 h | — | 4 h | 4 pm (5 pm in summer) | Dinner |
| Camel ride and dinner | — | About 1 h | 4 h | 4 pm (5 pm in summer) | Dinner |
The first two serve the same menu: soup, salads, a main dish — tagine or couscous — and fruit, with mint tea and water at the table. The VIP pack has its own menu, described below. Prices change with the season and the group, so each outing’s page gives the current one.
Meal or sunset dinner: what changes between the two versions?
The length of the quad ride: the menu and the departure are the same. The 1-hour quad, camel and Moroccan meal and the 2-hour quad, camel and sunset dinner both leave at the base at 4 pm, or 5 pm from 1 April to 20 September. Both put the camel ride after the quad, then dinner under the tents; the day ends after dark. The first has one hour of quad and lasts four hours, the second two hours of quad and lasts five.
The sunset version keeps its name, but its start is fixed and does not follow the sun. The camel ride lasts about an hour and begins about two and a half hours after the start: about 6:30 pm on a 4 pm start, about 7:30 pm on a 5 pm start. Set against the sunset times of the 15th of each month in Agafay at sunset, it begins within about twenty minutes of sunset in February, March and from May to August, and between half an hour and an hour after sunset in April and from September to January. The page of the 2-hour quad, camel and sunset dinner gives the five hours in order.
If you cannot choose between the two, ask us when you book. In July and August, when average highs in Marrakech reach about 37 °C, the afternoon start also keeps the ride out of the hottest part of the day.
What does the VIP pack add to quad and camel?
A shorter ride on a bigger quad, then a more elaborate evening. The VIP pack starts at the base at 4 pm (5 pm in summer), every day at the same time: one hour on a 350 cc quad, one quad per driver, then 45 to 60 minutes on a camel, led by a handler on foot. The ride ends on a dune where a welcome tea is served with dried fruit and Moroccan pastries, with a 360° view over the desert. That dune is a natural dune of earth, not of sand: Agafay remains a stone desert.
Dinner is at your own private table, in a quiet restaurant: four salads, a main course of your choice — lamb tagine with prunes and almonds, chicken tagine with olives and lemon, tanjia marrakchia, vegetable couscous, or pastilla ordered 24 hours ahead — then seasonal fruit and a dessert. A choice of five soft drinks and still water is included, and the evening goes on with music and a fire show.
It suits a couple or a small group who would rather trade an hour of quad for their own table and a show. If the riding matters most, the sunset version gives twice as long on the tracks.
Do you need the quad, the camel and the meal?
No: if one of the two activities does not interest you, a four-hour outing keeps the other with dinner. Quad biking and dinner gives the full two hours on the tracks, then a Moroccan dinner at the camp, with no camel ride. Camel ride and dinner starts with mint tea on arrival, then about an hour on camelback and dinner at low tables under the tents, with nothing to drive.
For an evening with no riding at all, there is also a Moroccan dinner with live music at the camp. In every case the tracks, the camels and the camp share the same ground, so there is no transfer between one part of the evening and the next.
Which quad and camel ride in Marrakech suits children and families?
Every combined outing takes children, accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, but the quad sets the ages. On our quad outings, drivers must be 16 or over, with no driving licence; from the age of 6, a child rides as a passenger behind an adult who drives. The VIP pack states the same rule.
The camel ride needs no experience, and it is open from the age of 3: a handler has the animal kneel, helps you on and off, and leads the train on foot. The quad ride and the camel ride are not advised for pregnant women or people with back problems. If you are unsure about a child’s age or a health question, ask us before you choose.
For a family with a child under 6, the camel ride and dinner is the outing to look at, since children under 6 do not ride a quad. With teenagers of 16 or more, everyone can drive their own machine on any of the three combined outings.
What should you wear for a quad and camel outing in Agafay?
Closed shoes and sunglasses for the ride, and a warm layer for the end of the day. The tracks are dusty, and the dust travels: wear clothes you do not mind washing, and bring something to cover your face. The helmet is provided and fitted at the base.
There is little shade on the plateau, so a hat and sun cream earn their place. On every outing that ends after sunset — the meal and sunset versions, and the VIP pack — you finish the evening sitting still outdoors, and the Agafay loses its heat quickly. Average night lows in Marrakech are 6 to 7 °C in December and January: bring a jumper in summer and a proper coat from November to March.
How do you get to the base from Marrakech?
The base is in the Agafay desert, 45 minutes by road south-west of central Marrakech, towards Lalla Takerkoust. The road is fine for any car, and there is no public bus to Agafay. Leave at least 45 minutes before your start time at the base.
If you would rather not drive, a return transfer from your hotel or riad can be added when you book, for a fee; it is not included in the price of the outing. With the VIP pack’s optional transfer, you leave Marrakech at 3 pm and are back around 9 pm (4 pm and 10 pm in summer).
You can book without paying anything online and pay at the base, in cash, in dirhams or foreign currency, before the start, or pay online with PayPal: a 30% deposit or the full amount. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start, and anything you paid online is refunded.
Can the quad and camel day be arranged differently?
Yes, on request: ask us and we tell you what is possible. A private group, a photo pack or a video can be requested when you book. For a different order, a different length or a larger group, the custom trip page is the place to start. Tell us about a special diet when you book rather than on the day: vegetarian and allergy requests go to the kitchen, and we confirm beforehand what can be prepared.
To book, open the page of the outing you have chosen — the 2-hour quad, camel and sunset dinner, the 1-hour quad, camel and Moroccan meal or the VIP pack — where the dates, the price and the booking module are. Or write to us on WhatsApp and we will help you choose.
